MANAGEMENT OF FINES
What happens if I commit a violation with a rental car?
If Italian authorities record an infraction or unpaid toll with your rented vehicle, within 90 days they notify the rental company/owner. The rental company then forwards your data from the rental contract to the authorities, who re‑issue the ticket in your name, with extra postal costs.
What changes with Transigo For You?
If your rental company offers Transigo, you can manage the fine directly in our app — saving time and costs without going through the authorities.
How will I receive a fine notification?
You’ll receive a notification in Transigo within 24 hours of your rental company receiving the official fine.
⚠️ Note: you won’t be notified on the day of the infraction, only once the fine is formally delivered to the rental company.
How can I pay the fine?
You can pay directly through the app using credit/debit cards or mobile payment systems.
How can I request the copy of the fine?
You can request a copy of your fine in the 'Other Managements' section within each individual case.
⚠️Note: Once you have obtained a copy of the fine, we remind you not to pay the fine through any channels outside of the Transigo system.
Do I need to provide license details for point deductions?
Yes. For infractions that involve driving‑license point deductions, you must provide the driver’s license details of the actual offender (which may differ from the renter). Even if you reside abroad, this is mandatory.
With Transigo For You, you can submit this quickly from your smartphone with a digital OTP‑verified signature.
⚠️ Note: if you fail to provide this, Italian authorities will issue a new fine of €291 plus costs.
Can I contest a fine through the app?
At the moment, the app allows only management and payment of fines. For disputes, please contact support.
What happens if I don’t pay on time?
If you miss the deadline, your rental company is legally required to forward your data to the issuing authority. The fine will then be re‑issued in your name and sent directly to your home, with extra costs charged to you.
